The Karate University launches the "Kata" championship.
The national karate championship - kata category (individual and team) kicked off on Saturday at the covered hall of the Bashir Stadium in Mohammedia, organized by the Royal Moroccan Karate Federation and Combined Styles for the 2025-2026 sports season, with the participation of more than 1,400 practitioners.
This sports event, organized in coordination with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool Education, and Sports, as well as the local authorities of Mohammedia over two days (May 2 and 3), is part of the federation's efforts to support and develop karate at the national level, discover young talents, and enhance the visibility of this sport.
On this occasion, the President of the Royal Moroccan Karate Federation and Combined Styles, Mohamed Mqtaabel, confirmed that organizing this championship represents a significant sports milestone that reflects the ongoing dynamism of this sport at the national level.
The President highlighted that this event is not limited to its competitive aspect but embodies a system of noble values that underpin the art of karate, such as discipline, respect, and high sportsmanship, noting that this national championship is the result of the continuous efforts made by clubs and regional leagues in the field of training and coaching.
He noted that the kata competitions highlight a high artistic dimension of this sport, as they require focus, precision, and harmony between body and mind, reflecting the depth and authenticity of this martial art.
He also praised the efforts made by various stakeholders to ensure the success of this event, including local authorities, partners, and technical and refereeing staff, emphasizing their role in ensuring a well-organized event that respects the rules and upholds the principles of integrity and sportsmanship.
In this context, the President commended the level presented by participants from various categories, urging them to embody sports ethics and fair competition, considering that gaining experience and honoring clubs and the nation remains the highest achievement.
In a statement to the Moroccan News Agency, the Deputy Secretary-General of the federation, Said Chrat, confirmed that the national karate championship - kata category features significant participation exceeding 1,400 practitioners competing in individual and team categories, both male and female, reflecting the expanding base of practice at the national level.
He noted that the registration of more than 540 practitioners in the junior categories on the first day of this championship reflects the growing interest in these categories and indicates a promising base for the development of karate at the national level.
