Ipswich returns to the Premier League.
Ipswich made an immediate return to the Premier League after defeating Queens Park Rangers 3-0 today, Saturday, avoiding the chase from Millwall.
The "Tractor Boys" had their fate for the second place in the Championship in their hands, as two early goals in the first ten minutes from Scotsman George Hirst and Jaiden Philogene sparked early celebrations at Portman Road.
Irishman Casey McAteer sealed the victory five minutes from the end, allowing Ipswich to join Coventry in the top flight next season.
Ipswich struggled last season upon their return to the Premier League for the first time in 22 years, but they hope that experience will serve them better in the upcoming challenge.
Despite winning only four matches out of 38 in the league last season, the club was rewarded for its faith in Northern Irish manager Kieran McKenna.
The former assistant to the Manchester United manager has now led the club to promotion for the third time in four seasons.
McKenna said: "This might have been the hardest (promotion), to be honest, and that means a lot to me."
He added: "We had to rebuild this team under difficult circumstances, and everyone kept working. I think we deserve to be where we are today."
