The "El Clásico" match between Raja and the Royal Army ends with the victory of the Rabat team
The Royal Army won the “El Clásico” summit against its guest, Raja Athletic Club, with a score of 2-1, in the match that brought them together this Thursday evening, on the floor of the Prince Moulay Abdullah Sports Complex in Rabat, for the 17th round of the professional tournament, amid the presence of a large crowd and an enthusiastic atmosphere in the stands.
The two teams entered the confrontation with clear caution, as the first 15 minutes witnessed the exchange of some ineffective attempts, in light of the lack of concentration and the final touch.
The 19th minute witnessed the match referee announcing a penalty kick in favor of Raja after obstructing Mathias Oyosi, before he retracted his decision after returning to the “VAR” technique due to offside.
As time passed, the Royal Army imposed relative pressure, while Raja retreated back and relied on counterattacks, but the many mistakes, especially in the middle of the field, limited the danger of both sides.
The army coach was forced to make an emergency substitution in the 42nd minute, with Younes Abdelhamid replacing the injured Falou Mendy, while Mathias Oyewossi missed the most dangerous chances of the first half with a header that did not worry goalkeeper Reda El Taknaouti, so the first half ended without goals.
With the start of the second half, the army succeeded in decoding Raja's defense early, as Brigadier General Rabie Harimat led an attack from the left side, after which he passed a beautiful ball that Abdel Fattah Hadraf translated into the lead goal in the 52nd minute.
Raja's coach responded by making changes in search of an adjustment, most notably the introduction of Jordanian Sharara in the 57th minute, but Al-Jaish took advantage of the opponent's rush to add the second goal in the 65th minute through Reda Selim, after a counterattack led by Ahmed Hammodan.
The 69th minute saw protests from Raja players after a goal by Sharara was canceled due to an error at the beginning of the attack, before the referee returned to the “VAR” technique in another shot to announce a penalty kick for the Green Team, after Saber Boukrin was obstructed inside the penalty area, following a shot that was brilliantly blocked by the Teknaouti goalkeeper.
Adam Al-Nafati succeeded in reducing the difference in the 78th minute from the penalty spot, giving Raja hope for a comeback, but the remaining minutes did not know anything new, despite the changes made by the coaches of the two teams.
With this victory, the Royal Army raised its score to 35 points in second place, while Raja Athletic Club’s score froze at 33 points in third place.
