The Moroccan League coincides with the World Cup
Informed sources revealed to Hesport that FIFA has given the green light to the National Professional Football League to schedule Moroccan league matches to coincide with the 2026 World Cup, which is expected to be organized in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.
The same sources explained to “Hesport” that the league had written to FIFA to request a license to continue programming the professional tournament matches during the World Cup period, after the programming committee was unable to end the season before the start of the World Cup, due to the constraints that accompanied the preparation of the calendar, a request that was approved.
The same data confirmed that the league committed, in its correspondence, to programming the league matches at a time that does not conflict with the World Cup matches, taking advantage of the time difference between Morocco and America, which allows a time margin to avoid overlapping football schedules.
The sources indicated that among the scenarios proposed for ending the current football season’s competitions is setting the date of June 27 as the maximum date for bringing the curtain down on the professional tournament.
The League's programming committee faced several organizational and logistical constraints during the current season, in light of the coincidence of a number of continental and international competitions, including the African Cup for local players, the Arab Cup, and the African Cup of Nations, in addition to the World Cup finals, as well as the commitments of Moroccan clubs in various continental competitions.
