“La Masia” is interested in a promising Moroccan talent
The Spanish team Barcelona is close to kidnapping a promising Moroccan talent, in order to enroll him in the “La Masia” academy during the next season.
The Spanish newspaper “Tribuna” confirmed that the “Catalan team” is monitoring the 12-year-old Youssef Khanfri, who is currently active in the ranks of Rayo Majadahonda.
The newspaper confirmed that Khanfari attracted the attention of the club's scouts thanks to the levels he offers within his age group, and the negotiations have reached advanced stages, awaiting an official decision during the coming period.
According to observers, the Moroccan talent is distinguished by his ability to play in several positions in the midfield, whether deep or on the wings, in addition to his dribbling skills and speed that allow him to penetrate defenses, which prompted Barcelona officials to move quickly to finalize the deal before other clubs enter the line.
This trend comes within the framework of Barcelona's policy aimed at strengthening the “La Masia” school with promising talents from various regions of Spain. Although most of the under-12 contracts are local, the club management does not hesitate to break this rule when it comes to exceptional talent.
The 2015 generation within “La Masia” includes a group of promising names, a clear confirmation of Barcelona’s desire to build a strong future for the first team, by investing in training and attracting the best emerging talents.
Barcelona has previously included a group of Moroccan names in its ranks, most notably Lamine Yamal, who preferred to play for the Spanish national team, and Moroccan internationals Mounir El Haddadi and Abdel Samad Zalzouli, among others.
