Militao will miss Brazil's World Cup
Brazilian defender Eder Militao will undergo surgery this week in Finland, after the injury he suffered during his team's Real Madrid match against Deportivo Alaves, which will prevent him from participating in the next World Cup.
Militao left the match due to pain in the back muscle, before medical tests confirmed that he had a tear in the biceps femoris muscle in his left leg. After a period of thought, the player chose to undergo surgery instead of conservative treatment.
Although non-surgical treatment would have allowed him to return within about five weeks and perhaps join the World Cup, the risk of recurrence of the injury was high, so he preferred to resort to surgery to ensure a better recovery in the long term.
The surgery will be performed by the famous Finnish doctor Lasse Limpainen, who is considered one of the world's leading specialists in this type of injury.
Militao is expected to be absent for approximately five months, in a new blow to his career, which has suffered many injuries, after he suffered three muscle injuries this season, in addition to two previous cruciate ligament tears during the past two years.
It is worth noting that the Moroccan national team, the fourth World Cup in 2022, will face Brazil, the five-time world champion, in the third group of the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals. The “Atlas Lions” will begin their participation in the global football tournament against the “Seleção” national team, and then they will face Scotland and Haiti.
