Azzaro is the best Moroccan scorer in the Emirates
Moroccan player Walid Azaro has become the all-time top scorer for Moroccan players in the UAE Professional League, after raising his tally to 43 goals after leading his team Ajman to victory over Al Dhafra with an unanswered goal, in the 23rd round of the competition.
According to the statistics of the UAE Professional League, Azzaro scored his 43 goals during the 104 matches he played for Ajman in the league. He also scored 8 goals during the current season, while his best goal tally remains in the 2023-2024 season when he scored 12 goals.
Azzaro is considered one of the most prominent Moroccan strikers who has excelled in Emirati stadiums in recent years, thanks to his scoring sense and great experience in front of goal, as he continued to add value to his team at crucial times and succeeded in consolidating his position among the most prominent foreign professionals in the tournament.
The match witnessed a strong struggle between the two sides, after the first half ended in a goalless draw amidst modest attempts, before the excitement rose in the second round after a goal scored by Karim Al-Barkawi was canceled due to offside, in addition to the expulsion of a player from each team.
In the 87th minute, Azzaro appeared at the right time, when he fired a powerful shot from outside the penalty area that landed in the net, giving his team three valuable points that raised Ajman's tally to 27 points in seventh place.
In his statements after the match, Azaro stressed the importance of the victory over Al Dhafra, pointing out that his team moved away from complex calculations after advancing to seventh place, adding that Ajman entered the confrontation looking for the three points to avoid entering a downward spiral, and that such matches are decided by small details.
With this achievement, Azzaro surpassed his compatriot Sufyan Rahimi, the Al Ain star, with whom he shared the lead with 42 goals, before he set the new record.
