The Greek Donis is the new coach of Saudi Arabia
The Saudi Football Association decided to officially sign Greek coach Georgios Donis to lead the first Saudi national team, succeeding Frenchman Hervé Renard, according to an official statement issued today, Thursday.
He added in his statement that an agreement had been reached to end the contractual relationship with Renard by mutual consent, wishing him success in his future career.
The Federation also indicated that Donis’ contract will extend until July 2027, which means that he will be the supervisor of training of the Saudi national team during the 2026 World Cup finals.
The Saudi national team will face a strong challenge in the next World Cup, after the draw placed it in a group that includes the Spanish national team, the Uruguay national team, and the Cape Verde national team.
The Saudi Federation also indicated that a press conference would be organized in Riyadh in the presence of the new technical staff, before the team’s delegation traveled to the United States of America to participate in the final preparatory camp in preparation for participation in the world championship.
“Al-Akhdar” is preparing to enter the fourth and final stage of the preparation program for the 2026 World Cup finals, which are scheduled to be organized in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.
