Onahi is on City’s radar in the Mercato
Spanish media reports revealed that English club Manchester City has entered into a contract with Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi during the upcoming summer transfer period, after the player’s great performances this season with his club Girona in the Spanish League.
The newspaper “fichajes” reported that Manchester City is studying the possibility of activating the release clause in Onahi’s contract, in order to sign him during the next summer transfer period.
The same source explained that the value of the release clause in Onahi’s contract amounts to 20 million euros, as the technical staff of the English team places the player among its priorities to strengthen the midfield, at the request of coach Pep Guardiola, who seeks to sign elements capable of harmony with “City’s” style of play.
The same report indicated that the City management is seeking to settle the deal early, taking advantage of the relationship between the two clubs, at a time when the summer Mercato is expected to witness competition for the services of the Moroccan player who has demonstrated his great ability with Girona this season.
Onahi performed at a distinguished level in his first season in “La Liga” despite the injuries, as he attracted attention with his ability to connect the lines and contribute to the offensive structure, which made him the focus of follow-up by several European clubs, noting that out of the 18 matches in which he participated with Girona, he scored 5 goals this season and contributed 3 assists.
