Mazraoui catches the eye against Chelsea
Moroccan international Noussair Mazraoui presented a remarkable defensive display during the strong confrontation between Manchester United and its host Chelsea yesterday, which ended with the “Red Devils” winning 1-0, as he was one of the most prominent stars of the match thanks to his decisive interventions and great solidity in the back line.
Mazraoui stood out in particular after he succeeded in stopping a dangerous attack led by Alejandro Garnacho, who was in a suitable position to run towards the goal. However, the Moroccan defender showed excellent tactical reading and quick movement that enabled him to seize the ball successfully and without committing any mistake.
That intervention contributed to aborting a counterattack that posed a real threat to Manchester United's defense, and also gave his teammates more confidence to continue withstanding the pressure of the home team.
Mazraoui's performance received praise from the English media, in addition to the applause of the Manchester fans, who praised the player's great performance at Stamford Bridge.
The Moroccan defender participated in the center back position, in the absence of Lenny Euro due to injury, in addition to the suspension of the duo Harry Maguire and Lesandro Martinez.
In terms of numbers, Mazraoui played the entire match, and succeeded in winning five ground tackles and one aerial tackle. He was not exposed to any dribbling throughout the match, in addition to scattering the ball on two occasions, with a successful intervention out of two attempts.
