Sociedad wins the cup against Atletico
Real Sociedad was crowned the King's Cup in football for the fourth time in its history, defeating Atletico Madrid 4-3 on penalties (regular and extra time 2-2), on Saturday in the final match at the “La Cartuja” stadium in Seville.
Real Sociedad advanced twice in regular time through Ander Barenechea, who scored the fastest goal in the history of the final match of the competition after 14 seconds, and its captain, Mikel Oyarsabal (45 + 1 from a penalty kick). Atletico Madrid responded through Nigerian Ademola Lookman (18) and Argentine Julián Alvarez (83).
The result did not change in extra time, so the two teams decided to go to penalty kicks, which brought a smile to Sociedad, after the brilliance of their goalkeeper, Unai Marrero, who saved the first two kicks of the Norwegian Alexander Sorloth and Alvarez.”
