“CAF” suspended the Safi goalkeeper for two matches
“Hesport” learned from an informed source that the Confederation of African Football decided to suspend Hamza Hamiani, the goalkeeper of Olympique Safi, for two matches, after he was sent off during the match against USM Algiers, for the first leg of the semi-finals of the Confederation of African Football, which ended in a goalless draw.
The same source explained that the punishment issued against Al-Hamiani was described as harsh within the components of the “Al-Abdi” team, especially since it would deprive him of playing the return and first-leg matches of the final if he qualified, at a time when he was greatly relied upon to protect the team’s den in this critical stage of the continental competition.
On the other hand, the management of Olympique Safi moved quickly, as it decided to file an official appeal with “CAF”, in the hope of reducing the punishment, based on data that it considered mitigating, including the nature of the interference that led to the expulsion, which was a contact with the Algerian team striker that required only a yellow card.
The “Masfiwi” team is looking forward to reducing the length of goalkeeper Al-Hamiani’s sentence, in order to benefit from his continental experience, which contributed to the team’s arrival for the first time in its history to the semi-finals of the African Confederation Cup.
It is noteworthy that the return match will take place next Sunday, on the field of Al-Masirah Stadium in Safi, starting at eight in the evening.
