Brentford makes an offer to bring Al-Wahidi
Moroccan international Zakaria El Wahidi has entered the interest of a number of English Premier League clubs. At the forefront is Brentford, which made an official offer to sign him during the next summer transfer period, with Crystal Palace and Everton following up.
A report by the British “Sports Boom” website, which specializes in the transfer market, stated that the right-back of Genk Club has become one of the most prominent names strongly on the agenda of European clubs, thanks to his distinguished levels in the Belgian League, where he provides an integrated performance that combines offensive power, defensive solidity and tactical discipline.
Brentford club is considered the most serious about the deal, as it included the player on its list of goals based on precise analytical criteria, especially his numbers related to assists (xA) and offensive contributions, in addition to his ability to advance the ball and create chances. These are indicators that place him at a high level in line with the requirements of the English Premier League.
On the other hand, Crystal Palace is positioning the player as a potential alternative option in the event of the departure of its defender Daniel Muñoz, as its scouts have followed Al-Wahidi’s performance in several matches this season. While Everton seeks to strengthen the right-back position with a player who is distinguished by his physical ability and continuity throughout the minutes of the match.
For its part, Genk Club is adhering to its financial demands, taking advantage of the contract binding the player to the team until June 2028, setting the value of the deal at a minimum of 25 million euros, with the possibility of it rising to 30 million euros through incentives and bonuses.
The same source revealed that Brentford's initial offer amounts to 15 million euros, in addition to 6 million in variables, with a proposed weekly salary of 45 thousand pounds sterling, at a time when no official agreement has been reached yet.
The player's future remains open to many scenarios. The most notable of which is the early conclusion of the deal in favor of Brentford if they raise their financial offer, or Crystal Palace’s strong entry into the final days of the “mercato,” in addition to the possibility of surprises from European clubs such as Benfica and Olympique Marseille.
It seems that Zakaria El-Wahidi is on his way to becoming one of the most expensive full-backs to leave the Belgian league for the English league, in light of a consensus on his ability to quickly adapt to the “Premier League” format thanks to his physical and tactical qualifications.
