Doubts surround Akrd's participation in the World Cup
Olympique Marseille received a strong blow regarding its Moroccan international defender, Naif Akrad, after it was confirmed that he would be absent from the remainder of the current season’s competitions.
Media reports stated that Akrad would not be able to return to the stadiums before the end of the 2025-2026 season, despite the hopes that existed during the final meters of the season.
The reason for this long absence is that the player suffered from a pubic injury, which is a complex injury for professional players, which required him to undergo surgical intervention on March 12, in order to permanently get rid of this problem.
Although the French club's medical staff was betting on the player's return in May at the latest, the development of his condition revealed that he had suffered a fracture in the pubic bone, which imposed a long rehabilitation period, thus officially ruling out his return this season.
This absence constitutes a painful blow for Olympique Marseille, especially since Akrad was considered one of the main pillars of the defensive line since he joined the team.
This new development also puts the technical staff in a difficult position, as the team seeks to achieve its goals in the French League, especially the competition for the qualifying places for the Champions League.
On the other hand, this situation raises doubts about the player’s readiness to participate with the Moroccan national team in the upcoming tournaments, especially the World Cup Finals, if he does not fully recover in time.
