The Moroccan security experience dedicates attendance at major international demonstrations
The United States Embassy in Rabat announced that Morocco has been selected to participate in the White House task force charged with coordinating security efforts related to the organization of the 2026 World Cup.
The embassy explained, in a post on its official electronic accounts, that this step falls within the framework of strengthening security cooperation between the two countries, considering that it constitutes a new opportunity to consolidate the bilateral partnership, especially with the approaching commemoration of 250 years of historical relations between Rabat and Washington, in addition to sharing a common passion for sports.
Abderrahmane Makkawi, a security analyst, said, "The choice of Morocco as a primary partner within the team charged with securing the 2026 World Cup is a strong indicator that supports the pioneering Moroccan experience in managing security within major sports stadiums. This choice did not come out of nowhere, but rather is an international recognition of Moroccan field competence."
Makkawi added, in a statement to Hespress, that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had previously closely examined this experience during the 2025 African Cup, where the American side participated in the stadium security teams, considering that the pragmatic nature of American security prompted him to request support from Moroccan security institutions.
This partnership, according to the spokesman, depends on Morocco’s accumulated experience, which was clearly demonstrated during the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Moroccan experts have become a reference that is consulted and requested in the management and management of crowds inside stadiums, especially in cases that witness large crowd flows.
Makkawi stated, "The American vision regarding the Moroccan experience in controlling stadiums and crowds has become comprehensive and inclusive. This confidence has been strengthened after the successes recorded in the continental championships, which has made Moroccan security institutions a strategic partner in securing a global demonstration of this size."
Abbas Al-Wardi, a political analyst and professor of international law at Mohammed V University in Rabat, said, “The White House’s choice of the Kingdom of Morocco to participate in securing the 2026 World Cup is an acknowledgment of the long-standing historical relations between the two countries.”
Al-Wardi added, in a statement to Hespress, that Morocco was the first country to recognize the independence of the United States 250 years ago, which gives this security partnership deep symbolic and historical dimensions.
