Atletico knocks Barcelona out of the European Champions League
FC Barcelona did not succeed in achieving the “Remontada”, despite its victory over Atletico Madrid with a score of 2-1, today, Tuesday, in the second leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League competition, after losing the first leg by two unanswered goals, leaving the competition with an overall difference of (3-2).
Barca opened the scoring early through young star Lamine Yamal in the fourth minute, before Ferran Torres increased the lead with a second goal in the 24th minute, in a confrontation that raged from the beginning.
Atletico Madrid responded with the goal of reducing the difference through Nigerian Ademola Lookman in the 31st minute, returning his team to the atmosphere of the match and relieving the pressure of the result on the aggregate of the two matches.
In the second half, Ferran Torres scored a third goal in the 55th minute before it was ruled out for offside, while Barcelona's troubles increased with the expulsion of defender Eric Garcia in the 79th minute, making Atletico qualify for the semi-finals, where it will face the qualifier from England's Arsenal and Portugal's Sporting Lisbon.
