Gamal: We trust Wehbe’s leadership of the “Lions”
Fathi Gamal, the national technical director, spoke about Mohamed Wehbe, the coach of the Moroccan national team, stressing his full support for him and his great confidence in his ability to lead the “Atlas Lions” towards providing levels worthy of the ambitions of national football, and competing honorably in the 2026 World Cup finals.
Gamal stressed, in his statements on Tuesday morning inside the Mohammed VI Football Complex, that the technical staff is betting on the current project, considering that technical stability constitutes a decisive factor for achieving positive results during the upcoming competitions, especially in light of the ongoing preparations for the “World Cup.”
He added that the transitional phase that the team is going through requires patience and confidence, noting that the team played two friendly matches last March under Wehbe’s leadership, where it tied in the first against Ecuador, before achieving a victory in the second against Paraguay, within the framework of the preparatory program for the 2026 World Cup, after taking over the task as successor to former voter Walid Regragui.
The National Technical Director also indicated that this stage requires granting continuity to the technical staff in order to build a homogeneous group capable of taking on challenges, highlighting that achieving positive results remains linked to clarity of vision and continuous work.
He continued: “We believe in the capabilities that the team has, and we seek to develop the team’s performance gradually, to ensure full readiness for the big dates.”
Jamal stressed that the main goal is to form a strong competitive team capable of representing Morocco in the best way in international forums, stressing that daily work and discipline within the group constitute the key to success.
He stated that the National Technical Administration is closely keeping pace with this project, by providing the appropriate conditions and necessary support to all components of the team.
He concluded his speech by saying that the ambition remains to achieve honorable participation that reflects the development witnessed by Moroccan football and meets the aspirations of the Moroccan fans.
