Carragher: Morocco outperforms Brazil
Former England star Jamie Carragher expected the Moroccan national team to achieve a new achievement in the 2026 World Cup finals, by topping its group that includes strong teams, led by Brazil.
The Liverpool legend explained, in statements to the British newspaper “The Telegraph”, that the third group, which also includes Scotland and Haiti, will witness a strong struggle for the lead, favoring the “Atlas Lions” to occupy first place, ahead of the Brazilian team, which will settle for runner-up, while Scotland is expected to come in third.
Carragher pointed out that the Moroccan national team has become a global football force after its historic achievement in the 2022 World Cup, when it reached the semi-finals, considering that this development gives it the advantage in such decisive confrontations.
Regarding the knockout rounds, the spokesman said it was likely that the Moroccan national team would face its Japanese counterpart in the round of 32, expecting Morocco to win, before continuing its path by overcoming the Ecuadorian national team in the round of 16.
But the “Atlas Lions” journey, according to the same expectations, will stop in the quarter-finals against the England national team, in “an anticipated confrontation between the two teams.”
In a related context, Carragher expected the final of the tournament to be purely European, bringing together France and Portugal, with the semi-final also including Spain and England.
