The Atlas Lionesses advance in the FIFA rankings
The first Moroccan women's national football team made a leap in the FIFA rankings issued today, Saturday, rising three places to 63rd place in the world.
The “Atlas Lionesses” finished the last classification by obtaining 1,401.90 points, achieving a slight increase of 1.01 points compared to the previous classification, after the mixed results they recorded in the last matches.
The “Atlas Lionesses” occupy an advanced position on the continent, as they rose to fourth place after displacing Zambia (66th place), behind leaders Nigeria (36th), South Africa (58th), and Ghana (61st).
Spain maintained the top spot in the world rankings with 2096.52 points, followed by the United States of America (2059.01 points), then Germany (2031.82 points), while England came fourth with 2016.39 points, and Japan fifth with 2006.90 points.
The women's national team will play two friendly matches, the first against Tanzania on Monday, April 13, and the second against Ghana on Friday, the 17th of the same month, at Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations, which Morocco will host next summer.
