Doping test stops Hamza Al-Moussawi
Identical media reports confirmed that the Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of African Football decided to suspend Nahdet Berkane player Hamza Moussaoui for two years, after he was found to have taken a banned substance, after he underwent a doping test following his team’s match against Pyramids in the African Champions League.
The same sources stressed that the results of laboratory tests showed the presence of a substance included in the list of prohibited substances for the year 2026, at a time when the player was unable to provide a license for therapeutic use justifying this, which prompted the Disciplinary Committee to issue a suspension penalty.
The data indicated that the player admitted to taking the stimulant after receiving the results of the first sample, and he also waived the request to analyze the “B” sample, being content with the recorded result, which expedited the process of making the disciplinary decision against him.
Reports also highlighted that the punishment includes preventing Moussaoui from participating in all competitions supervised by CAF or FIFA, while preserving his right to appeal before the Appeals Committee.
For its part, the Sudanese Al Hilal issued an official statement in which it expressed its strong condemnation of what it described as “serious procedural violations” that marred the hearing inside the “CAF” headquarters, stressing that the procedure lacked transparency and did not respect the basic legal guarantees.
The club added that its representatives were not officially notified of the procedures, and basic data was circulated in undocumented ways, in addition to a proposal to change the legal staff without clear justifications, which it considered a violation of its rights.
Al-Hilal pointed out that there were imbalances in the composition of the arbitration panel, highlighting the possibility of a conflict of interest, in addition to recording violations during the session, such as the absence of adequate translation and the refusal to re-present the pleadings, in addition to the exclusion of his representatives during the deliberations.
The club concluded its statement by affirming its adherence to all its legal rights, and its readiness to resort to all available procedures to defend them, calling on “CAF” to intervene urgently to ensure respect for the principles of justice and transparency within its disciplinary bodies.
