The "Cubes" coach hopes to win the "Cannes"
Portuguese Thiago Lima Pereira, coach of the Moroccan national under-17 football team, confirmed that the draw for the African Cup hosted by Morocco presented the “Atlas Cubs” with a special challenge, after they were placed in a group that included the teams of Tunisia, Egypt and Ethiopia, which are teams that the technical staff knows well due to previous confrontations within the North African Union competitions.
Pereira explained, in a statement to the Royal Moroccan Football University channel, that the crew was expecting the possibility of facing teams from the same region, noting that this has two aspects, the first is positive, represented by knowing the opponents, and the second is represented by the desire of these teams to take revenge after the recent confrontations, which will make the matches more difficult.
The Portuguese coach stressed that the philosophy of the Moroccan team is clear, stating that the team will enter all matches with a single mentality based on imposing control and striving for victory, without waiting for luck or relying on what the competitor will offer, adding that the main goal is to go far in the competition and win the title.
Pereira concluded his statements by emphasizing his great respect for all teams, especially Tunisia, Egypt and Ethiopia, considering them strong teams. However, he highlighted, on the other hand, that the “Atlas Cubs” will enter every confrontation with the determination to win, as part of their quest to build a team that dominates matches and confirms its continental ambition.
It is noteworthy that Morocco will host the finals of the African Cup of Nations for Under-17 Football during the period between May 13 and June 2, noting that it won the last edition, which it also received.
