Morocco maintains eighth place globally
The Moroccan national team maintained eighth place globally in the classification issued by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), after raising its score to 1,755.87 points, thus continuing its lead in the Arab world and confirming its stable presence among the elite of international teams, before the next World Cup finals.
This classification reflects a balanced start to the new phase under the leadership of coach Mohamed Wehbe, as the “Atlas Lions” were able to achieve a victory over the Paraguay national team with a score of 2-1 in the French city of Lens, a few days after they tied with Ecuador with a similar goal in Madrid.
The importance of maintaining eighth place is not limited to the numerical aspect only, but rather carries a great moral significance, as the Moroccan team is no longer just a passing surprise since its historic achievement in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but rather has become a fixed number in the international classification equation, ahead of ancient European and American teams that have a long history in major competitions.
On the Arab level, the Moroccan national team continues to be far behind its closest rivals, as Algeria came in 28th place, followed by Egypt in 29th place, then Tunisia in 44th place, and Qatar in 55th place, while Iraq ranked in 57th place, after booking a ticket to qualify for the World Cup for the second time in its history.
