Paraguay coach acknowledges the strength of Morocco
Paraguay national team coach, Argentine Gustavo Alfaro, confirmed yesterday, Tuesday in the French city of Lens, that Morocco has a “world-class team,” expressing his great admiration for the quality of the “Atlas Lions” performance.
Speaking during the press conference that followed the friendly match that ended with Morocco’s victory over Paraguay (2-1), the Argentine coach praised the high level of competitiveness imposed by the Moroccan team, stressing its ability to compete with the major international teams on the technical and tactical levels.
Alvaro considered that the confrontation with Morocco represents a “mirror” for his team and a “reference” that allows him to determine the nature of the changes and adjustments that must still be made. He pointed out that this type of confrontation allows for accurate monitoring of weak points, and also represents a valuable opportunity to make the necessary improvements, especially with regard to managing periods of strength and moments of pressure.
The coach himself described the match as an “important test” that went beyond simple preparatory matches, as his players faced an organized, disciplined opponent who was proficient with the ball, in an atmosphere characterized by intensity and rigor comparable to major international competitions.
Returning to the details of the match, Alvaro said: "My team paid the price for its mistakes against a ruthless opponent. Every lapse or loss of the ball was exploited by the Moroccan players who made the difference thanks to their technical mastery and high ability to keep the ball."
Regarding the chances of the Moroccan team in the upcoming World Cup in 2026, the Paraguay coach drew attention to the fact that “the Atlas Lions are among the “teams that have a thousand accounts on the international scene,” and explained that Morocco has qualifications in all areas, with a remarkable balance between the pillars of experience and young talents that add dynamism to the performance, considering that this integration is one of the team’s greatest strengths.
The same speaker concluded that Morocco’s recent achievements were not the result of coincidence, but rather the result of a “well-studied and carefully organized path.”
