The Czech Republic is in the World Cup after two decades of absence
The Czech national team qualified for the FIFA World Cup finals after an absence of 20 years, after a dramatic victory over Denmark on penalty kicks 3-1 after a 2-2 draw in regular and extra time in the global playoff final.
The Czech team took the lead with an early goal in the third minute through Pavel Sulke, then Joachim Andersson equalized for Denmark in the 72nd minute, and the remaining minutes did not witness any goals, so the two teams resorted to 30 minutes of extra time in two halves, in order to decide the winner between them.
Ladislav Krejci added the second goal for the Czechs in the 100th minute, then Kasper Hauge equalized again for Denmark in the 111th minute.
The two teams resorted to penalty kicks, which smiled at the Czech team.
The Czech team completes Group A, which includes Mexico, one of the hosts of the tournament, South Africa and South Korea.
The Czech national team's last appearance in the World Cup finals was in Germany 2006.
