A popular race that attracts interest in the city of Fez
Yesterday, Sunday, more than two thousand runners participated in the first edition of the popular race “Fez from Door to Door,” which took place over a distance of 10 kilometers.
This sporting event, organized at the initiative of the Fez-Saïs Association in partnership with the University of Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdullah, the Regional Academy of Education and Training of the Fez-Meknes region and the Regional League of Athletics, falls within the framework of a dynamic aimed at encouraging the practice of sports and valuing the historical and cultural heritage of the spiritual capital; Through a path linking the most famous gates of the ancient city to the scientific capital of the Kingdom.
At the conclusion of this competition, first place in the men's category went to runner Hisham Ould, who covered the distance in a time of 28 minutes and 10 seconds, followed by Aziz Hamani and Hisham Ousmi.
In a press statement, the race winner confirmed that achieving this victory was not easy. Due to the intensity of the competition, especially during the last 400 metres, he expressed his pride in this coronation that he achieved in the colors of the Royal Army Club.
In the women's category, first place went to Fatima Afeir, achieving a time of 32 minutes and 40 seconds, ahead of Kulthum Bouasriya and Sakina Al-Hajji.
Fatima Afeir praised the “beauty of this race,” which gave participants the opportunity to discover the landmarks of the city of Fez.
For his part, Hassan Slighoua, President of the Fez-Sais Association, explained that organizing this race on the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the founding of the association aims to revitalize the city of Fez, and give participants coming from different parts of the Kingdom the opportunity to have a unique experience through a unique path that passes through the alleys of the old city, the new neighborhood, and the Meshour, alongside the city walls.
