Three players choose to represent Morocco
Data from the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) platform for changing sports nationality revealed that a number of players with dual citizenship continue to choose to represent the Moroccan national team.
Bonida, the midfielder for Ajax Amsterdam, who was trained at Anderlecht, decided on his international selection in favor of the Moroccan national team at the expense of Belgium, along with Saif Al-Din Lazaar (19 years old), the Genk player, who made the same decision at the expense of the “Red Devils.”
The same platform revealed that Benjamin Khodri, 18 years old, a player for PSV Eindhoven, made his decision to play for the Moroccan national team at the expense of the Netherlands by changing his sporting nationality, along with Walid Akujil, 20 years old, who plays for Utrecht.
These data highlight the remarkable shift in the choices of players of Moroccan origin, as the Royal Moroccan Football Federation is now benefiting from long-term strategic work to attract young talents abroad, based on an integrated sports project that guarantees a competitive environment and real opportunities to shine continentally and internationally.
This trend confirms that the Moroccan national team has become a favorite destination for many emerging names, at a time when European federations find themselves facing an increasing challenge to preserve their talents of Moroccan origins, especially with the players becoming increasingly convinced of the possibility of achieving a successful international path with the “Atlas Lions.”
