Senegal prepares to appeal to Al-Tas
The Senegalese Football Association, through its executive office member Moussa Mbaye, denied the validity of the news circulating regarding the issuance of a decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Al-Tas) to freeze the decisions of the Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football for the same game.
Mbaye explained, in a statement to the Senegalese “RTS” channel, that the Senegalese Federation has not yet submitted its official appeal, saying: “We will submit the appeal to the court today, Tuesday, and we will begin the necessary procedures,” referring to its initiation of the legal path.
A member of the Executive Office of the Senegalese Football Federation confirmed that what is being promoted regarding freezing decisions is baseless.
The aforementioned official added in the same statement: “People will hear a lot of false news, but they must be patient and wait for official statements from the Senegalese Federation.”
The Senegalese Federation continues to prepare its legal file, by collecting the necessary documents and arguments. On the horizon of taking it to the “Al-Tas” court, where the deadline for submitting the appeal ends on March 27th.
It is noteworthy that the Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football had decided, a few days ago, to consider the Moroccan team as the winner of the 2025 African Cup of Nations, while considering the Senegalese team to withdraw from the final match.
