"Weiners" criticizes the management of Wydad Club
The “Winners” faction, which supports Wydad Sports Club, issued a strongly worded statement following the team’s exclusion from the quarter-finals of the African Confederation Cup, considering that the continental exit confirms the failure of the season and the club’s inability to regain its luster on the African level.
The aforementioned faction confirmed that this failure was not surprising; Rather, it was the result of “an accumulation of wrong decisions” that affected the team’s stability and made it lose its personality on and off the field.
In this regard, the faction supporting the Red Castle indicated, in the same communication, that the technical choices during the season did not meet the expectations of the fans.
The same communication touched on the start of the season under the leadership of coach Mokoena, who supervised extensive assignments during the summer transfer period before strengthening them with other deals in the winter. However, the results were not up to expectations, after the early exit from the championship race and exclusion from the Throne Cup, in addition to losing a qualifying position for the African Champions League. Which is what hastened his death.
The same source added that the contract with coach Benhashem, who achieved a positive start, was followed by the decision to give him leadership of the team in the Club World Cup, despite the club’s need, according to the report, for a “high caliber” coach, noting that the recruitment policy was characterized by randomness, in light of the contracting of players who were not relied upon sufficiently.
The “Winners” recorded that Wydad’s participation in the Club World Cup ended with three defeats, without the course being corrected later, as the technical staff was retained and the same approach to management was continued. What was reflected in the team’s performance locally and continentally?
The faction also criticized what it considered a “lack of personality” on the field, in addition to exaggerating respect for opponents, and treating some results, such as a draw outside the field, as positive. This affected the team's chances in the competition.
The report held the club president responsible for the outcome of the situation, stressing that dismissing the coach alone is “insufficient” in the absence of a comprehensive change in the management method. He also criticized the members of the management office for their silence regarding the decisions taken.
In a related context, “The Winners” indicated that developing the club’s marketing and communication aspects cannot compensate for the absence of titles, considering that the focus should be primarily on sports results.
