Goalkeeper absences complicate Wydad plans
Abdelali El Mohamady, Wydad Athletic Club's goalkeeper, suffered a severe injury during the confrontation between his team and Olympique Safi in the African Confederation Cup, yesterday, Sunday, which required his transfer to the hospital for careful medical examinations.
Informed sources reported that the examinations revealed a fracture of one of the ribs, in addition to a lung injury, which forced him to be subjected to intensive medical observation to ensure the stability of his health condition.
Abdel-Aali Al-Mohammadi spent an entire night in the intensive care unit, where Wydad’s medical staff closely followed the development of his condition, before the results confirmed that his condition had improved and that there were no serious complications.
Al-Mohammadi left the hospital on Monday morning, and will undergo a rest period exceeding four weeks, before gradually returning to training, awaiting the restoration of his full readiness to return to the competition atmosphere.
Wydad Athletic Club will find itself forced to rely on its third goalkeeper during the upcoming confrontation against Al-Fateh Athletic Club, scheduled for next Wednesday, in a postponed draw for the tenth round of the professional tournament, in light of the absence of the first goalkeeper, Mehdi Benabid, who is with the Moroccan national team, and the injury of the second goalkeeper, Abdelali El Mohammadi.
