The resignation of Tariq Al-Saktiwi...the end of a period full of giving in the Moroccan national teams
National framework Tariq Sektioui officially submitted his resignation to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, after holding several positions in various national teams in recent years.
An informed source confirmed to Hesport that Al-Saktiwi’s resignation came at this particular period, even though his contract with the university was about to expire at the end of the current football season.
The same source indicated that Sektioui was a strong candidate to take over the leadership of the first Moroccan national team, succeeding former coach Walid Regragui. However, some details prevented reaching an agreement with the university, and later moved towards appointing Mohamed Wehbe as head of the national team.
Throughout his career with the national teams, Tariq Al-Saktiwi was able to achieve many notable achievements. He led the Olympic team to win the bronze medal in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, and won the 2024 African Cup title with the Moroccan national team. He also led the Moroccan national team to win the 2025 Arab Cup title.
It is noteworthy that the Royal Moroccan Football Federation was keen, during the recent period, to give the task of leading the various national teams to Moroccan frameworks. In a move aimed at enhancing local experience and raising the level of national teams.
