Egyptian police arrest Moroccan supporters
“Hesport” learned from an informed source that the Royal Army administration, in coordination with the Moroccan embassy in Egypt, intervened to release some of the fans arrested in connection with clashes with Esperance fans of Tunisia, before today’s match, Saturday, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
The same source confirmed that some fans of the “military team” clashed with their Tunisian counterpart yesterday, Friday, before their teams’ matches against Pyramids and Al-Ahly, scheduled for today, Saturday, in the second leg of the African Champions League quarter-finals, where six fans of both sides were arrested.
The source added that intensive movements are taking place behind the scenes by the management of the military team and the Moroccan embassy in Cairo, with the aim of containing the situation as quickly as possible, and ensuring the release of the fans to enable them to attend the anticipated confrontation, especially in light of the importance of the match at the qualifying level.
