El-Shenawy: Facing the army is a difficult test
Ahmed El-Shenawy, Pyramids goalkeeper, confirmed today that his team awaits a difficult test against the Royal Army, in the second leg of the African Champions League quarter-finals.
The protector of the Egyptian team added, in a press conference for the match between Pyramids and the Royal Army, that the “military team” will enter the match with an offensive tendency to compensate for the result of the first leg, indicating that the Pyramids players and the technical staff have studied the opponent well and know its strengths and weaknesses, and will work to exploit them to achieve qualification to the semi-finals.
El-Shenawy stressed that the confrontation will not be easy, in light of the strength of the Royal Army, highlighting, on the other hand, that Pyramids are now being held in high esteem by all the continent’s clubs, as a champion and with a strong personality inside and outside the field. He pointed out that the team is moving steadily this season, after reaching the semi-finals of the cup and topping the league, in addition to its endeavor to continue the continental journey, stressing that all players are extremely focused in order to win the largest possible number of titles.
The speaker also praised his colleague Mahmoud Gad, considering him a strong addition, in addition to Sherif Ekrami’s experience, and the presence of young goalkeeper Ziad Haitham, stating that the competition between them is in the team’s interest, even though the goalkeeping position requires stability and not relying on rotation to a large extent.
El-Shenawy concluded his speech by emphasizing the readiness of all elements to go into the match with full force, with the aim of achieving victory and continuing the campaign to defend the continental title.
It is worth noting that the match will be held tomorrow, Saturday, at four in the afternoon, Moroccan time, at the Air Defense Stadium in Cairo, with Pyramids having a relative advantage after a 1-1 draw in the first leg.
