Yurcic: Details that decide the army's confrontation
Croatian Kronoslav Jurcic, coach of the Egyptian Pyramids club, stressed the difficulty of the upcoming confrontation against the Royal Army team in the quarter-finals of the African Champions League, stressing that the return match will be decided with small details despite the result of a draw (1-1) in the first leg.
He added in a press conference for the match between Egyptian Pyramids and the Royal Army today, that his team is required to treat Saturday’s match as if it were a completely new confrontation, stressing the necessity of achieving victory in order to ensure qualification to the semi-finals of the African Champions League.
He pointed out that reaching this stage of the continental competition is an important achievement, but at the same time he stressed that maintaining this level and competing for the title requires double effort and great focus from all players.
The Croatian coach also explained that his team was suffering from match pressure, wondering why Pyramids played a match in the Egypt Cup between the home and away matches, considering that this constitutes an additional burden on the players and affects their readiness.
Jurcic confirmed that he is forced to make many changes to the squad on an ongoing basis to avoid fatigue, pointing out the absence of Walid Karti due to injury, in exchange for the readiness of the rest of the team.
In a related context, the Pyramids coach stressed his confidence in his players, including Feston Maili, stressing that he will return strongly during the coming period. He also expressed his great respect for the Royal Army team and Moroccan football, without this changing his team’s style of play, which is based on pressure and attack.
