Politics cancels a handball tournament in America
Organizers said that a handball tournament between four major European teams for men and women, which was scheduled to be held in August, will not be held in America for political reasons.
โGiven the current unpredictable political climate between America and Europe, we decided to host the first event in Europe,โ said organizer Mads Winder, CEO of event planning company Pro Handle USA. He added: โWe have evaluated the situation and have to acknowledge that, given the current circumstances, the risk of facing unexpected challenges that may negatively affect the project is very high.โ
The tournament, which was created to promote handball in America, was scheduled to be held in Las Vegas from August 1 to 9.
The host country and date will be announced later. The 2027 and 2028 editions will be held in America.
It is noteworthy that the teams participating in the tournament for men are Nantes from France, Aalborg Handbold from Denmark, Fuchsse Berlin from Germany, and Bec Szeged from Hungary.
The women's teams are: Honey Bee Ishikawa from Japan, Odense Handbold from Denmark, Brest Brittany from France, and Juri Ito from Hungary.
