Senegal Football Association means “the cup”
The Senegalese Football Federation announced that it had received the notice of the decision issued yesterday, Tuesday, by the Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football, in the context of the case related to the final match in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which brought together the teams of Senegal and Morocco, and the charges of the complaint that were submitted regarding the events of the “Cannes Final.”
The Federation added, in a statement, that “the Appeals Committee considered the appeal submitted by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation acceptable in terms of form and established in terms of substance, which resulted in the cancellation of the previous decision issued by the Disciplinary Committee, against the backdrop of failure to respect the right of the appellant party to be heard during the first stage of the procedure.”
The committee also concluded, according to the same communication, that “the behavior of the Senegalese team falls within the requirements of Articles 82 and 84 of the African Cup of Nations Law, considering that the Senegalese League violated Article 82, which led to the approval of the defeat of the Senegalese team by withdrawing, with the result of the match recorded 3-0 in favor of the Moroccan team, in implementation of Article 84 of the regulations governing the competition.”
The Senegalese Football Association expressed its strong rejection of this decision, describing it as “unfair, unprecedented and unacceptable,” considering that it “harms the image of African football.”
The same body confirmed its intention to resort, as soon as possible, to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland (Altas), in order to defend its rights and the interests of Senegalese football.
The Senegalese Federation also stressed “adherence to the values of integrity and sporting justice,” stressing that it “will inform public opinion of developments in this file in the next stage,” he said.
