The Confederation of African Football announces that Morocco has won the 2025 Cannes title
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Sanctions Appeal Committee announced today, Tuesday, the defeat of the Senegalese national team by withdrawing from the final match of the African Cup of Nations “Morocco 2025”, in accordance with Article 84 of the tournament regulations, and thus the Moroccan team won 3-0.
This decision came after considering the Royal Moroccan Football Federation’s appeal regarding the application of Articles 82 and 84 of the continental championship regulations, where the committee concluded to accept the appeal in form and substance, and to cancel the previous decision issued by the CAF Disciplinary Committee.
The committee also considered that the conduct of the Senegalese national team falls within violations of Articles 82 and 84, and that the Senegalese Football Federation violated Article 82 of the regulations through the actions of its national team, so that the Moroccan national team was officially declared the winner after Senegal withdrew from the “CAN Final,” while rejecting all other demands presented.
In addition, the Appeals Committee issued decisions related to other violations witnessed in the match. The penalty for player Ismail Sibari was amended to a two-match suspension, one match suspension, and the $100,000 fine was cancelled.
The Moroccan Football Federation's fine related to the actions of those charged with collecting balls was also reduced to $50,000, with the university's responsibility for this behavior confirmed.
At the same time, the fine imposed on the Moroccan League for entering the VAR review area, amounting to $100,000, was confirmed, while the fine related to the laser incident was reduced to $10,000. All other claims relating to these events have been rejected.
