Wydad’s market value in the Confederation
Wydad Sports Club is on the throne of the clubs with the highest market value in the quarter-finals of the African Confederation Cup, according to figures from the “Sofascor” statistics platform.
This classification reflects the great financial strength and superior human composition that the “Red” team now possesses, which places it at the forefront of the candidates to achieve the continental title thanks to the qualitative investment in bringing in stars.
Wydad's market value amounted to about 20.36 million euros, far superior to its competitors in the African continent, where Zamalek of Egypt came second with 15.28 million euros, followed by its Egyptian compatriot Port Said with a value of 12.08 million euros. These numbers highlight the financial gap that Wydad created in the continental competition, surpassing well-established clubs with a long history in African competitions.
The presence of international star Hakim Ziyech is a decisive factor in Wydad topping this list, as he gave the team a tremendous boost thanks to his great professional career in Europe.
Ziyech represents a unique artistic and commercial addition to the group, especially since he had international experiences with Chelsea, Ajax and Galatasaray, which raised the marketing shares of the “Red” club and gave him invaluable field experience.
The list also included a strong Maghreb presence, as CS Belouizdad came in fourth place with 10.35 million euros, followed by USM Alger in fifth place with 8.68 million euros, and Olympique Safi recorded its presence in sixth place with 6.97 million euros, in a clear indication of the remarkable development witnessed by the national clubs participating in the Confederation Cup.
