Record growth in viewing of “Cannes Morocco”
Preliminary data issued by independent research agencies revealed that the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations “Morocco 2025” recorded a growth in viewership rates amounting to 61 percent, in a strong indication of the expansion of the competition’s fan base, continentally and globally.
The Confederation of African Football explained, in a statement on its website, that the full report on the tournament will be issued by Nielsen within the next few weeks, and it is expected to reveal more detailed data regarding the media and commercial performance of this edition.
According to the “CAF” report, this unprecedented radiance of “Cannes Morocco” is due to the wide international coverage that the tournament received across various platforms, especially in major markets such as the United Kingdom and France.
The communication stated that well-known marketing partnerships in the field contributed to expanding the scope of broadcasting the competition, as the number of international partners increased by 50 percent compared to the 2023 edition, which was held in Côte d’Ivoire, with the entry of new markets in the line of following the tournament, including Japan, China, South Korea, Mexico, Greece, and Colombia, which made the Moroccan version the most widespread in the history of the competition.
The tournament also continued its expansion in South America, where the number of viewers in Brazil exceeded 24 million viewers, compared to nearly two million viewers in Mexico.
At the marketing level, according to the same source, the adopted media strategy contributed to raising the media exposure of partner brands by more than 65 percent in Europe and South America, in parallel with an increase in media value within the European market by 32 percent, and an increase in total broadcast rights revenues by 35 percent in Europe, Asia, and South America.
In terms of audience viewing, the final match recorded strong numbers in the United Kingdom, exceeding 3 million viewers, and Germany also achieved a record number of more than 4 million followers, at a time when India emerged as a new market, after the final match attracted more than 800,000 viewers.
These indicators confirm the growing dynamism of the African Cup of Nations, which continues to consolidate its position among the most prominent football events in the world, awaiting the issuance of the final report, which will provide a more comprehensive picture of the organizational and commercial success of “CAN Morocco 2025”, at a time when “CAF” contributed to its failure athletically after its poor management of the events of the final.
