El Gaish draws with Egyptian Pyramids in the first leg of the African Champions League quarter-finals
The Royal Army Club tied with the Egyptian Pyramids team, 1-1, this evening, on the grounds of the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, for the first leg of the African Champions League quarter-finals.
Since the whistle of Somali referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan, the “military” team has put strong pressure on the Egyptian team in order to score an early goal to make the task easier for Brigadier General Rabie Harimat’s friends.
The early pressure of the Royal Army resulted in the first goal through the brilliant Ahmed Hamoudan, who scored the lead goal for “Al-Asaker” in the eighth minute.
After the Royal Army goal, Pyramids tried to score the equalizer, but the “Al-Asaker” defense and goalkeeper Ahmed Reda Al-Taknaouti were on the lookout for the Cairo team’s attacks, so the first half ended with the Royal Army leading by one goal without a response.
In the second half, the Egyptian team quickly entered the atmosphere of the match, as Mahmoud Abdel Hafeez Zalaka was able to equalize the score in the 52nd minute.
The remaining minutes did not yield anything new, so the match ended in a 1-1 draw between the Royal Army and Pyramids.
It is worth noting that the return match between the Egyptian Pyramids and the Royal Army will be held next Saturday on the grounds of the Air Defense Stadium in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
