Labiad is the first Moroccan to play in Brazil
Moroccan player Zakaria Labiad made history, after he became the first Moroccan player to play a match in the Brazilian League, after his first participation in the Corinthians shirt in the confrontation that his team lost to Curitiba with two unanswered goals, on Thursday evening, on the floor of the “New Quimica Arena”, within the Brazilian Football League competitions.
The match witnessed Al-Bayid's first official appearance with his new team, more than a month after he joined the Brazilian club, where he came on as a substitute during the second half, thus placing his name in the records of Moroccan football as the first player from Morocco to participate in the Brazilian League competitions.
The Whites' last official appearance before this match dates back to November 22 of last year, when he was defending the colors of the Chinese club Dalian Yingbo, in the match in which his team was defeated by Shanghai Port with an unanswered goal. During that match, which he played in the number 10 shirt, the Moroccan player started the match from the bench before participating in the second half.
In his first appearance with Corinthians, Labyad gave a modest but effective response during the few minutes he played. He participated for only nine minutes, during which he successfully passed three balls, participated in four tackles, and led an attack by advancing the ball forward.
The Moroccan player received a rating of 6.5 according to the “Sofascore” website, which specializes in player statistics, an evaluation that reflects his acceptable attendance in his first official test with the Brazilian team’s jersey.
It is expected that Laybayed will get more opportunities in the upcoming matches, in order to restore the competitive format after a period of absence from the atmosphere of official matches, and try to impose himself among the choices of the technical staff of Corinthians Club during the remainder of the Brazilian League competitions.
