The Greek club Olympiacos extended the contract of its Moroccan international striker Ayoub El Kaabi, today, Thursday, without revealing the duration of the new contract, in a move that reflects the club’s desire to maintain one of its most prominent stars during recent seasons.
Al-Kaabi continues to perform at remarkable levels during the current football season (2025-2026), whether with his team, Olympiacos, or with the Moroccan national team, as he currently tops the list of top scorers in the Greek League, continuing his offensive brilliance and breaking a number of records.
Until this March, the Moroccan striker played 31 matches for the Greek team in various competitions, during which he managed to score 18 goals and provide two assists, confirming his position as one of the most prominent strikers in the Greek championship.
Al-Kaabi (32 years old) is considered one of the most prominent Moroccan scorers in recent years, after marking a distinguished career that led him from local stadiums to brilliance on the European continent. He was born on June 25, 1993 in Casablanca, and began his professional career with Racing Club Casablanca, where he caught attention by scoring 25 goals in one season in the second division championship.
He then moved to RS Berkane, with whom he won the Throne Cup, before having a professional experience in the Chinese League with Hebei China Fortune Club. Then he returned to the national championship through Wydad Sports Gate, with whom he won the Moroccan League title in 2021, crowning the tournament’s top scorer with 18 goals.
Al-Kaabi also had other professional experiences with Turkey's Hatayspor and Qatar's Al-Sadd, before landing at Olympiacos in 2023, where he left his mark on the most prominent chapters of his career, as he became the club's all-time top scorer in European competitions, and continued to increase his scoring tally in the Greek League.
In terms of achievements, Al-Kaabi won the European Conference League title with Olympiacos for the 2023-2024 season, as the first Moroccan player to achieve this title, and he was also crowned the competition’s top scorer.
At the international level, he won the African Championship for Local Players with the local national team in 2018 and 2020, and is considered the all-time top scorer in this tournament.
The decision to extend Al-Kaabi’s contract comes in light of the interest of a number of clubs in his services, after he became one of the most prominent Moroccan strikers in European stadiums in recent years.
