Benhashem leads Wydad against Olympique Safi
“Hesport” learned from informed sources that the management of Wydad Athletic Club has decided to keep coach Mohamed Amin Benhashem in his position for the time being, at least until the first leg of the African Confederation Cup quarter-final against Olympique Safi, which is expected at the end of this week.
The same sources explained that what has been circulated recently regarding Wydad officials’ tendency to separate from Benhashem before the next confrontation is unfounded, stressing that the coach will continue his duties normally and will lead the team in Sunday’s match against Olympique Safi.
On the other hand, the management of the “Red” club began proactive moves in anticipation of any possible change at the level of the technical staff during the coming period, as it opened channels of communication with a number of Moroccan and foreign coaches to study the various options available.
This move comes in light of the mounting criticism directed at Benhashem by Wydad fans, who expressed their dissatisfaction with the team's tactical performance, at a time when the club seeks to end the season in the best possible way and return to the CAF Champions League competition next season.
